EAMUN 2019 Conference

As usual, Jaffery Academy (Msa) participated in the just ended EAMUN 2019 Conference in style. It was represented by a full contingent of three delegations. Virtually all the delegates got the opportunity to speak at least once, but for most, more than once.

Majority of the delegates were first-time participants, and yet they still made an impact in a highly experienced field of 1,253 delegates drawn from Europe (Sweden and Denmark), India, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa & representatives from UN headquarters and leading Universities in the UK & US.

Out of the four committees, the Jaffery delegates were voted the best performing in two of them. Imran Karim, who received an Honorary Mention for his outstanding performance last year, went a notch higher this year and clinched the position of Best Speaker in the Ecology Committee (note: a committee is made up of about 400 delegates). Irfan Karim, the Ambassador of Sierra Leone (Acting Secretary General) was named the best performing delegate in the Economic Committee.

The occasion was graced by Her Excellency the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, Mrs. Margaret Kenyatta and the CS (Education) amb. Amina Mohammed. The theme was ‘Tujenge Pamoja’.

The conference sharpened the delegates’ lobbying and public speaking skills and enhanced their research and networking capabilities. They were able to make friends across nations and continents. They learned a lot during the period and accumulated experiences that will shape their world view for years to come.
