Jaffery Academy was represented at this year’s Mombasa Secondary Schools County Games held at the Agha Khan Academy over the weekend. Seventeen boys and girls competed against other schools in badminton and table tennis. In Table Tennis, Mohammedabbas Firoz finished 3rd overall and qualified for the Coast Regional Games. In the girl’s category for badminton, Maheera Khatau took first position, while Aasiya Karim and Zainab Gulamhussein came 2nd and 3rd respectively. What an amazing start.
In the boys it was clean sweep as they took 5 out of the possible 6 slots for the regional games. Irfan Karim came in 3rd, Mohammed Amersi and Avula Reddy came in 4th and 5th respectively. The boys finals was an all Jaffery Academy affair, featuring Abdultayeb Alibhai and Imran Karim. Experience proved the best teacher in the match as Abdultayeb won 2 – 1 in an entertaining 3 sets finals.
