The Jaffery Academy Mombasa Annual Debate Meet hosted mixed teams from Aga Khan Academy Mombasa; Coast Academy; Oshwal Academy; Mombasa Academy; and Jaffery Academy – the hosts.
The debate took a different format this year. Mixed teams were set up, with one member from each school. Teams had to collaborate to think together, work together, plan together, and deliver together with an aim to win together.
The two motions debated were:
- TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS IN THE WORKPLACE HAVE ADVERSELY AFFECTED THE JOB MARKET
- MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ABUSES COMMITTED BY THEIR COMPANIES IN THE DEVELOPING WORLD
The students were given time to brainstorm, develop a strategy and finally deliver together. All 4 teams did impress the Judges.
